Asian Water Monitor is a large monitor lizard native to South and Southeast Asia, ranging from northeastern India and Bangladesh through Sri Lanka, southern China and major Indonesian islands, and it is the second-largest lizard species after the Komodo dragon. Most adults measure 1.5 to 2 meters long, though one Sri Lankan specimen reached 3.21 meters, and the species is listed as Least Concern thanks to a large, stable population and a remarkable ability to adapt to human-modified environments including urban waterways.
