The brownbanded bamboo shark is a species of bamboo shark in the family Hemiscylliidae, found across the Indo-West Pacific from Japan to northern Australia. It is regularly bred in public aquaria and is considered one of the sharks best suited to captivity, owing to its docile disposition, sedentary habits, and relatively small size; in aquariums it can live up to 25 years.
