Covers every family-rank taxon entity in this atlas identified by its own sourced description as belonging to one of these non-insect invertebrate groups, checked against the standard authority for that group (the World Register of Marine Species for the marine invertebrate families, the Catalogue of Life and relevant paleontological literature for the extinct families) rather than a single unified taxonomic scheme, since this subcategory spans several distinct invertebrate phyla and classes rather than one. Excludes every insect family, grouped separately under Insect Families.
