The cephalopod orders are the divisions of the molluscan class Cephalopoda, which has approximately 650 to 700 extant species in two subclasses and five orders. All are strictly marine and live in every ocean. The nautiloids have more than 90 tentacles, the cuttlefish and squid orders have eight arms and two tentacles, and the octopus and vampire squid orders have eight arms. The backbone at GBIF lists many more orders in all, including Nautilida, Octopoda, Sepiida, Oegopsida, Ceratitida, Goniatitida, Agoniatitida, Orthocerida and Phylloceratida.
