Anomalepididae is a family of nonvenomous, burrowing snakes native to Central and South America, ranging from southern Central America to northwestern South America with disjunct populations in the northeastern and southeastern parts of the continent. The family was named by Taylor in 1939 and comprises four genera and fifteen species. Anomalepidid snakes resemble the blindsnakes of family Typhlopidae, differing in that some species retain a single tooth in the lower jaw.
