Leiocephalidae

Leiocephalidae is a family of iguanian lizards restricted to a single genus, Leiocephalus, the curlytail or curly-tailed lizards, named for a tail that frequently curls upward. Native to the West Indies including the Bahamas, Turks and Caicos, Cayman Islands, Cuba and Hispaniola, with two species introduced to Florida, the genus comprises about 30 recognized species and was formerly treated as a subfamily of Tropiduridae before being raised to its own family by Frost and Etheridge in 1989.
