Micrelapidae is a family of rear-fanged, mildly venomous snakes containing a single genus, Micrelaps, native to Africa and the Middle East. The genus was described by Boettger in 1880 and includes four recognized species found across a range spanning Kenya, Sudan, Somalia, Ethiopia, Uganda and Tanzania in Africa and Israel, Palestine, Syria, Jordan and Lebanon in the Middle East. The family Micrelapidae itself was established in 2023.
