Phyllodactylidae is a family of geckos comprising 163 species in ten genera, distributed across the New World, North Africa, Europe and the Middle East. Formally established in 2008 on the basis of molecular phylogenetic analysis, the family is united by a shared single codon deletion in the phosducin gene, and its name refers to the leaf-shaped digits found in many of its members. It includes the wall geckos (Tarentola), American leaf-toed geckos (Phyllodactylus) and fan-fingered geckos (Ptyodactylus), among others.
