Trionychidae

Reptile Families

Trionychidae is a family of turtles within the order Testudines, commonly known as softshell turtles or softshells. The family was formally described by Leopold Fitzinger in 1826. Softshells are found across Africa, Asia and North America, with some extinct species known from Australia.
