Australovenator

Australovenator is a genus of megaraptoran theropod dinosaur that lived in what is now Australia during the Late Cretaceous, about 95 million years ago. Its holotype, a partial skeleton including forelimb, hindlimb, pelvis and lower jaw elements, was discovered in the Winton Formation near Elderslie Station in 2006, found intermingled with remains of the sauropod Diamantinasaurus. It was described in 2009 by Australian paleontologist Scott Hocknull and colleagues, and contains a single species, A. wintonensis, though fragmentary remains from the Eumeralla and Wonthaggi Formations may also belong to the genus.
