Oriental Cockroach

The oriental cockroach, also known as the waterbug or black cockroach, is a large, dark brown to black, glossy-bodied cockroach species, with adult males measuring roughly 18 to 29 millimetres and females 20 to 27 millimetres. Females appear wingless at a glance but actually carry short, non-functional wings, giving them a wider body than the longer-winged but still flightless males. Originally endemic to the Crimean Peninsula and the region around the Black and Caspian Seas, it now has a cosmopolitan distribution.
