The Tanganyika lates, Lates angustifrons, is a species of fish in the family Latidae, endemic to Lake Tanganyika in East Africa. It can reach 200 centimeters in length and weigh up to 100 kilograms, making it a widespread predator on other fish in the lake's food web. It is important commercially and to sport fishermen, and those fishing pressures threaten its population; the IUCN Red List classifies it as Endangered. Despite the common name, three other lates species, the bigeye lates, forktail lates and sleek lates, also live in Lake Tanganyika.
