Opisthorchis viverrini, commonly known as the Southeast Asian liver fluke, is a food borne trematode parasite in the family Opisthorchiidae that infects the bile duct. People become infected by eating raw or undercooked fish, and the resulting infection, called opisthorchiasis, also raises the risk of cholangiocarcinoma, a cancer of the bile ducts.
