Jackson's chameleon (Trioceros jacksonii) is a lizard native to the highland woodlands and forests of south-central Kenya and northern Tanzania, typically at elevations above 1,600 meters, and has also established introduced populations in Hawaii, Florida, and California. It is named for Frederick Jackson, the first colonial governor of Kenya. Males carry three brown horns, one above each eye and one on the snout, which they use in combat with rival males, while females are usually hornless or carry only a small trace of the snout horn. It gives birth to live young after a five to six month gestation rather than laying eggs, feeds on small insects and other invertebrates, and is assessed as Least Concern by the IUCN.
