It spans the fly agaric, one of the most recognizable mushrooms in the world for its red, white-spotted cap, the panther cap and other members of the genus Amanita, a genus containing both prized edibles and some of the deadliest poisonous mushrooms known, edible milkcaps such as the candy cap and the ugly milkcap, the common ink cap, notorious for a severe reaction when eaten alongside alcohol, and the chanterelle, gathered here as the closest common-shape fit even though its own order, Cantharellales, produces shallow ridges rather than true blade-like gills. Most members here form a symbiotic, mutually beneficial relationship with the roots of living trees, called mycorrhiza, trading soil nutrients and water for sugars the tree produces through photosynthesis.FactsGilled Mushrooms (Agarics)SourcesComments (0)Reader Challenges (0)FactsComparisonTaxonomic Rank OrderWell-attested5 1Reproductive ModeWell-attestedSpores 2Gilled Mushrooms (Agarics)Filter Results49 entriesCommon GroupAllGilled Mushrooms (Agarics) (49)TaxonomyAllAgaricales (25)Agaricomycetes (8)Amanita (7)Basidiomycota (2)Boletales (4)Polyporales (1)Russulaceae (2)HabitatAllBoreal Forest (3)Grassland (5)Temperate Coniferous Forest (8)Temperate Forest (15)Conservation StatusAllLeast Concern (14)Not Evaluated (26)Vulnerable (1)EcosystemAllMediterranean Basin (2)DietAllCarnivore (1)Detritivore or Scavenger (21)Parasitic (3)System (Realm)AllMarine (3)Terrestrial (49)Relationship to PeopleAllAgricultural or Structural Pest (1)Domesticated (1)Eaten or Drunk by People (24)Farmed or Commercially Raised (7)Invasive or Introduced Species (6)Used in Traditional Medicine (1)Venomous or Dangerous to Humans (8)Living or ExtinctAllYes (19)Where It LivesAllAfrica (2)Australia (3)Austria (2)Belgium (28)Benin (1)Brazil (12)Chile (6)Colombia (2)Denmark (29)Europe (1)France (1)Germany (1)Hainan (3)Netherlands (1)North America (2)Norway (36)Portugal (15)Slovenia (3)Sweden (32)Taiwan (1)Togo (1)United Kingdom (2)United States (32)Zambia (1)Show ResultsBrowseCompareSelect all 49Amanita MuscariaGilled Mushrooms (Agarics)Amethyst DeceiverGilled Mushrooms (Agarics)Bay BoleteGilled Mushrooms (Agarics)Bicolored Deceiver (Laccaria bicolor)Gilled Mushrooms (Agarics)Bird's Nest FungusGilled Mushrooms (Agarics)Boletus edulisGilled Mushrooms (Agarics)Caesar's MushroomGilled Mushrooms (Agarics)Candy capGilled Mushrooms (Agarics)Cauliflower FungusGilled Mushrooms (Agarics)ChanterelleGilled Mushrooms (Agarics)Charcoal BurnerGilled Mushrooms (Agarics)Clavulina cristataGilled Mushrooms (Agarics)Common Ink CapGilled Mushrooms (Agarics)Deadly DapperlingGilled Mushrooms (Agarics)Deadly GalerinaGilled Mushrooms (Agarics)Deadly WebcapGilled Mushrooms (Agarics)Death CapGilled Mushrooms (Agarics)Destroying AngelGilled Mushrooms (Agarics)Dry Rot FungusGilled Mushrooms (Agarics)EnokitakeGilled Mushrooms (Agarics)Fairy Ring MushroomGilled Mushrooms (Agarics)Fly AgaricGilled Mushrooms (Agarics)Giant Termite MushroomGilled Mushrooms (Agarics)Hedgehog MushroomGilled Mushrooms (Agarics)Horse MushroomGilled Mushrooms (Agarics)Hydnum repandumGilled Mushrooms (Agarics)Hypsizygus ulmariusGilled Mushrooms (Agarics)Jack-o'-lantern MushroomGilled Mushrooms (Agarics)King Trumpet MushroomGilled Mushrooms (Agarics)Lactarius lignyotusGilled Mushrooms (Agarics)Lactarius turpisGilled Mushrooms (Agarics)Lions Mane MushroomGilled Mushrooms (Agarics)Lyophyllum decastesGilled Mushrooms (Agarics)MatsutakeGilled Mushrooms (Agarics)Oyster MushroomGilled Mushrooms (Agarics)Panther CapGilled Mushrooms (Agarics)Parasol MushroomGilled Mushrooms (Agarics)PorciniGilled Mushrooms (Agarics)Russula vinosaGilled Mushrooms (Agarics)Shaggy ManeGilled Mushrooms (Agarics)ShiitakeGilled Mushrooms (Agarics)Split GillGilled Mushrooms (Agarics)Sulphur TuftGilled Mushrooms (Agarics)The BlusherGilled Mushrooms (Agarics)Tricholoma terreumGilled Mushrooms (Agarics)Verdigris AgaricGilled Mushrooms (Agarics)White Button MushroomGilled Mushrooms (Agarics)Witch's ButterGilled Mushrooms (Agarics)Wood BlewitGilled Mushrooms (Agarics)Sources1.
