Nostoc Family Cyanobacteria (Nostocaceae)

Nostoc Family Cyanobacteria is a Browse By group of the Nature Atlas that gathers cyanobacteria of the family Nostocaceae, filament-forming bacteria that fix nitrogen from the air, such as Nostoc commune, which forms jelly-like colonies on damp soil and rock, and Dolichospermum flos-aquae, which drifts as plankton in fresh water. It excludes marine cyanobacteria and cyanobacteria of other families.
