The Jack Dempsey is a species of cichlid fish native to freshwater habitats from southern Mexico to Honduras, and has also been introduced elsewhere. Its common name comes from its aggressive nature and strong facial features, likened to those of the 1920s heavyweight boxer Jack Dempsey.
