Pelecanidae is the pelican family of large waterbirds, comprising a single living genus, Pelecanus, distinguished by a long bill with an expandable throat pouch used to catch fish. Pelicans are found on every continent except Antarctica, frequenting both inland and coastal waters, and often forage cooperatively in groups.
