Delicate-skinned Salamander

The delicate-skinned salamander is an extremely rare mole salamander known only from the area of Rancho Guadalupe in Asuncion, in northwestern Mexico, where the holotype was collected in 1939. It is a small terrestrial salamander about 14.2 centimeters long, brown above with a lighter underside, a flattened head, and unwebbed fingers and toes. The IUCN lists it as data deficient, and the small population that remains is threatened by introduced predatory fish and by agricultural habitat destruction that has dried up its breeding ponds.
