Chamaecyparis formosensis, known as the Formosan cypress or Taiwan cypress, is a species of large conifer in the cypress family Cupressaceae. It is endemic to Taiwan, growing in the islands central mountains at elevations of roughly 1000 to 2900 meters. The species is classified as endangered, threatened by habitat loss and by over cutting for its valuable timber.
