Nigersaurus

Nigersaurus is a genus of rebbachisaurid sauropod dinosaur that lived during the middle Cretaceous period, roughly 115 to 105 million years ago. Its fossils were found in the Elrhaz Formation at Gadoufaoua in Niger, first noted in the 1970s and formally named in 1999 once more complete remains had been recovered. The genus is one of the most specialized herbivorous sauropods known, and its name means Niger reptile; the type species, N. taqueti, honors the paleontologist Philippe Taquet, who first discovered its remains.
