Cerbalus aravaensis

Cerbalus aravaensis is a huntsman spider found in the southern Arava Valley of Israel and Jordan. It was first described in 2007 by Gershom Levy of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, though news agencies later reported it in 2010 as a discovery by a University of Haifa research team. With a leg span of 14 centimeters, it is among the largest members of the huntsman spider family Sparassidae found in the Middle East. Males have a body length of 1.85 to 2.40 centimeters, while females measure 2.20 to 2.65 centimeters.
