Biome
Tropical Rainforest
Tropical Forest Biomes
A biome of dense, multi-layered forest found in a band close to the equator, where warmth and rainfall stay high and nearly constant through the year rather than swinging with distinct seasons. Tropical rainforests cover only a small fraction of the Earth's land surface but hold more than half of its known terrestrial plant and animal species, packed into a vertical structure of forest floor, understory, canopy and emergent layer that each support a different community of life. The largest contiguous tropical rainforest lies in the Amazon Basin of South America, with major counterparts in the Congo Basin of central Africa and across Southeast Asia.

Blue Planet BiomesRainforest - Precipitation
An average of 50 to 260 inches (125 to 660 cm.) of rain falls yearly.
Introduction
The temperature in a rain forest rarely gets higher than 93 °F (34 °C) or drops below 68 °F (20 °C); average humidity is between 77 and 88%; rainfall is often more than 100 inches a year.

tropical rainforest, luxuriant forest found in wet tropical uplands and lowlands around the Equator. Tropical rainforests, which worldwide make up one of Earth’s largest biomes (major life zones), are dominated by broad-leaved trees that form a dense upper canopy (layer of foliage) and contain a diverse array of vegetation and other life.
