This group gathers Mammal Genera subcategory members whose own order is real but represented by too few genera in this subcategory to justify its own heading: the elephants of the order Proboscidea, split between the African genus Loxodonta and the Asian genus Elephas, and two Australian marsupial genera of the order Diprotodontia, the common brushtail possum's genus Trichosurus and the cuscus genus Phalanger, tree-dwelling, mostly nocturnal marsupials of Australia and New Guinea. These four genera span three different mammalian orders united only by each having too small a presence here, among this subcategory's genus-level members, to stand on its own.
