Furnariidae

Ovenbirds, or furnariids, family Furnariidae, are a large family of small suboscine passerine birds found from Mexico and Central America to southern South America. The family contains around 321 species in 71 genera, divided into three subfamilies: Sclerurinae (miners and leaftossers), Dendrocolaptinae (woodcreepers) and Furnariinae, the true ovenbirds. They are diverse insectivores occupying nearly every Neotropical habitat, ranging from 9 to 35 centimeters in length, and take their name from the Spanish word for oven, a reference to the elaborate clay nests built by the horneros.
