Zosteropidae

White-eyes, family Zosteropidae, are small passerine birds native to tropical, subtropical and temperate sub-Saharan Africa, southern and eastern Asia and Australasia, as well as most tropical islands of the Indian Ocean, the western Pacific and the Gulf of Guinea. The family contains 149 species in 13 genera, with most species endemic to particular islands or island groups, though some widespread members of the genus Zosterops are exceptions; the silvereye, for instance, naturally colonized New Zealand beginning in 1855. They are typically greenish olive above and pale grey below, and their common and scientific names both refer to the conspicuous ring of tiny white feathers many species show around the eye.
