Procyonid, Mephitid And Red Panda Genera

This group gathers Mammal Genera subcategory members that belong to the order Carnivora but fall outside every other family group this subcategory needed: the raccoon family Procyonidae, spanning the raccoon's own genus Procyon and the coatis of the genus Nasua, the skunk family Mephitidae, spanning the striped and spotted skunks of the genera Mephitis and Spilogale, the stink badgers of the genus Mydaus, and the hog-nosed skunks of the genus Conepatus, and the red panda, genus Ailurus, the sole living member of its own family Ailuridae and, despite the name, not a close relative of the giant panda. What unites this group is simply that none of its seven genera belongs to a family large enough to warrant its own heading above.
