Pipridae

Manakins, family Pipridae, are a family of small suboscine passerine birds of the American tropics, containing 55 species found from southern Mexico to northern Argentina, Paraguay and southern Brazil, as well as Trinidad and Tobago. They are highly arboreal birds of forest and woodland, with most species living in humid tropical lowlands. The family was formally established by Constantine Samuel Rafinesque in 1815, and their name comes from the Middle Dutch mannekijn, meaning little man.
