Sittidae

Nuthatches, family Sittidae, are small passerine birds of the genus Sitta with large heads, short tails and powerful bills and feet. The family includes about 29 recognized species distributed across the temperate and montane woodlands of the Northern Hemisphere, with the greatest diversity in southern Asia; they also occur through most of North America and Europe and across Asia down to the Wallace Line, with a small population in northeastern Algeria and Morocco the family's only foothold in Africa.
