Cyanocorax

Cyanocorax is a genus of about 20 species of New World jays in the crow family Corvidae, ranging from southernmost Texas through Mexico and Central America into South America as far south as the lower Parana River basin, mostly in tropical rainforest but with some species in seasonally dry forest, grassland or montane forest. Most species are black-and-blue, often with considerable white plumage, and several show elongated neck plumes, crests or forehead bristle tufts and patches of bare facial skin; eyes are bright yellow in just over half the species, with black bills and typically black feet. The genus was described in 1826 by Friedrich Boie, with the plush-crested jay as type species.
