Urocissa

Urocissa is a genus of five species of blue magpies in the crow family Corvidae, established by Jean Cabanis in 1850, its name combining the Ancient Greek for tail and magpie. The species include the Taiwan blue magpie of Taiwan, the red-billed blue magpie ranging from the western Himalayas through Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam and China, the yellow-billed blue magpie of the Indian subcontinent lower Himalayas with a separate Vietnamese population, the Sri Lanka blue magpie endemic to Sri Lanka, and the white-winged magpie of southern China, northern Vietnam and Laos. Most species are Least Concern, but the white-winged magpie is Endangered and the Sri Lanka blue magpie is Vulnerable.
