Waterfowl and Landfowl Orders

Waterfowl and Landfowl Orders is a Browse By group of the Nature Atlas that gathers the two bird orders called fowl, the waterfowl of the order Anseriformes, such as ducks, geese and swans, and the landfowl of the order Galliformes, such as chickens, pheasants, turkeys and quail. An entry belongs here when its own cited article describes the order as waterfowl or as landfowl or gallinaceous birds. It excludes the orders of the large flightless running birds and every other order of living birds. The two orders are each other closest living relatives among the modern birds, and many of their members have been hunted or farmed by people, so the group lets a reader compare the water-loving and ground-living branches of the fowl.
