Little Stint

The little stint is a very small wader that breeds in Arctic Europe and Asia and is a long-distance migrant, wintering south to Africa and south Asia, with occasional vagrants reaching North America and Australia. Its genus name comes from the Ancient Greek kalidris or skalidris, a term Aristotle used for certain grey-colored waterside birds, while its specific name minuta is Latin for small.
