Wolffia globosa, known by the common names Asian watermeal and duckweed, is a species of flowering plant native to Asia and introduced to parts of the Americas and Africa. It grows in mats on the surface of calm freshwater bodies such as ponds, lakes and marshes, forming a very tiny, oval-shaped, leafless, stemless and rootless transparent green frond less than a millimeter wide. In one human experiment, processed Wolffia globosa was reported to provide dietary protein and vitamin B12.
