Daucus carota, commonly known as wild carrot, European wild carrot, bird's nest, bishop's lace, or Queen Anne's lace in North America, is a flowering plant in the carrot family Apiaceae. It is native to temperate regions of Europe, northern Africa as far south as Ethiopia, and southwestern and eastern Asia, and has naturalized widely elsewhere. The familiar cultivated carrot is derived from the domesticated subspecies Daucus carota subsp. sativus. The species is assessed as Least Concern by the IUCN.
