The marsh fern, Thelypteris palustris, is a species of fern native to eastern North America and across Eurasia, growing in wetland habitats such as swamps, bogs, wet fields and thickets, fresh tidal and nontidal marshes, and wooded streambanks, a preference reflected in its Latin species name palustris, meaning of the marsh. It serves as the sole host plant for the caterpillar of the marsh fern moth, Fagitana littera.
