Tanganyika Killifish

The Tanganyika killifish, Lamprichthys tanganicanus, is a procatopodid fish described by Boulenger in 1898 and endemic to Lake Tanganyika in East Africa. It grows to about 15 centimeters in length and forms large schools, found mainly close to rocky shores but also out in open water over the lake, reflecting both a benthic and a pelagic way of life within this single, ancient rift lake.
