Other Frogs And Toads (Anura)

This group gathers Amphibians subcategory members that are frogs or toads, order Anura, but that this atlas's own sourced descriptions do not identify with one of the four specific frog families gathered separately above, Bufonidae, Dendrobatidae, Hylidae or Ranidae. It spans very large species such as the goliath frog of Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea, the largest living frog in the world, the African bullfrog of the family Pyxicephalidae, and the American bullfrog, alongside the aquatic, fully webbed African clawed frog of the family Pipidae, used for decades as a standard laboratory research animal, and the bare genus overview Coqui, covering more than twenty small Puerto Rican frog species named onomatopoeically for their loud nighttime call. Every member gathered here is a genuine frog or toad by the broad definition of the order Anura; the split above exists only to keep four especially large or well-known families browsable on their own rather than to draw a biological line excluding anything placed here.
