Polypodium vulgare, the common polypody, is an evergreen fern of the family Polypodiaceae whose name comes from the Greek poly, meaning many, and pous or podos, meaning foot. It is a highly adaptable, widespread species, and it has traditional uses in cooking for its aroma and sweet taste and in herbal medicine as a purgative and vermifuge.
