Blacktip shark

The blacktip shark, Carcharhinus limbatus, is a species of requiem shark in the family Carcharhinidae, found in coastal tropical and subtropical waters around the world, including brackish habitats. It has a streamlined body with a pointed snout, typically measures 1.5 meters and can reach up to 2.8 meters, and is recognizable by black markings on most of its fins. Genetic analyses have found substantial variation within the species, with western Atlantic populations isolated and distinct from the rest of its range.
