Agave victoriae-reginae, commonly called Queen Victoria agave or royal agave, is a small succulent flowering perennial plant native to the Chihuahuan Desert of the Mexican states of Coahuila, Durango and Nuevo Leon. It forms compact rosettes about half a meter across, with short, rigid green leaves marked with distinctive white geometric streaks along their keels and margins, each leaf tipped with one to three spines 1.5 to 3 centimeters long, and it produces cream colored flowers on a flowering stalk up to four meters tall. About half a dozen subspecies are recognized, though hybridization with other agave species complicates the picture. The IUCN lists it as Least Concern, and it is listed under CITES Appendix II.
