Ribes aureum

Ribes aureum, known as golden currant, clove currant, pruterberry, or buffalo currant, is a species of flowering plant in the genus Ribes native to North America, found in Canada and the central United States west of the Mississippi River, and now naturalized in parts of the eastern United States after escaping cultivation. It is a small to medium deciduous shrub, 2 to 3 meters tall, with lobed leaves that turn red in autumn. It blooms in spring with golden yellow flowers that carry a spicy fragrance recalling cloves or vanilla, and produces amber yellow to black berries about 1 centimeter across.
