Keteleeria davidiana

Keteleeria davidiana is a coniferous tree in the pine family Pinaceae, native to Taiwan, southeastern China and northern Vietnam, found across Chinese provinces including Gansu, Guangxi, Guizhou, Hubei, Hunan, Shaanxi, Sichuan and Yunnan. It grows in hills, mountains and valleys at elevations of 200 to 1,500 meters, in a more continental climate than most other Keteleeria species tolerate, reaching 40 to 50 meters tall with an irregular, flattened crown and bark that is dull brown to dark gray black and scaly or flaky. Its needle like leaves measure 2 to 6.4 centimeters long, and its erect, cylindrical, light brown cones grow 8 to 20 centimeters long with winged seeds maturing in autumn; the soft, pale yellow white wood is used for construction, bridges, furniture and wood fiber, and the species is assessed as Least Concern.
