Scarabaeidae

Scarabaeidae is a family of beetles in the order Coleoptera, commonly known as scarabs or scarab beetles. As currently defined the family comprises more than 35,000 species divided among 22 recognized living subfamilies, following a reorganization that split off several groups, such as Bolboceratidae and Geotrupidae, as separate families of their own. It was first described by Pierre Andre Latreille in 1802 and occurs worldwide, including well known groups such as dung beetles and chafers.
