Hemaris thysbe

Hemaris thysbe, commonly known as the hummingbird clearwing, is a moth in the hawkmoth family Sphingidae. Its coloring varies between individuals but typically shows olive green and burgundy on the back and white or yellow and burgundy underneath, with transparent wings edged in reddish brown and pale legs that, combined with an unstriped underside, help identify the species. It hovers on rapidly beating wings to feed on nectar from a range of flowers, and this appearance and habit often lead it to be mistaken for a hummingbird or a bumblebee.
