Ctenodactylidae, the gundis or comb rats, is a family of small, stocky African rodents in the infraorder Ctenodactylomorphi, named for the comb-like bristles on the middle toes of their hind feet. Four living genera and five species are recognized, including Speke's gundi, Felou gundi, Val's gundi, the common gundi and the Mzab gundi, alongside three extinct subfamilies. They inhabit rocky desert terrain in northern Africa, from cliffs and hills to scree slopes between sea level and 2,500 meters, and were first documented by Western naturalists in Tripoli in 1774.
