Dugongidae is a family within order Sirenia, holding one surviving species, the dugong, Dugong dugon, one recently extinct species, Steller's sea cow, Hydrodamalis gigas, and a number of extinct genera known only from fossils, grouped into the subfamilies Dugonginae, Metaxytheriinae and Hydrodamalinae.
