Saguinus

Saguinus is a genus of squirrel-sized New World monkeys, family Callitrichidae, known as tamarins, comprising 22 species organized into two subgenera with 19 recognized subspecies, and representing the first evolutionary branch within their family. Tamarins are found from southern Central America through northwestern Colombia, the Amazon basin and the Guianas, occupying tropical rainforest and open forest as diurnal, arboreal primates. Coloring varies widely across species, ranging from nearly all black through mixtures of black, brown and white, and many species show distinctive mustache-like facial markings; body length runs 13 to 30 centimeters with tails of 25 to 44 centimeters, and captive individuals can live 20 to 23 years depending on species.
