Epixerus

Epixerus is a genus of rodent in the squirrel family Sciuridae containing a single species, Epixerus ebii, known as Ebian's palm squirrel, Temminck's giant squirrel or the western palm squirrel. It is found in West and Central Africa in subtropical or tropical moist lowland forest. Eastern populations were once treated as a separate species but are now recognized as part of a single species with three recognized subspecies. Its conservation status is assessed as Least Concern by the IUCN, though it faces threats from habitat loss.
