Cuon

Cuon is a genus of canids, family Canidae, containing a single living species, the dhole, Cuon alpinus, native to South, East and Southeast Asia, though now extinct across Central Asia, parts of Southeast Asia and possibly the Korean peninsula and Russia. It differs from genus Canis in skull shape, which is convex rather than concave in profile, in lacking a third lower molar, and in having upper molars with a single cusp rather than two to four; the dhole also has six rather than seven lower molars.
